All wood used for our jungle gyms is pre-treated with SABS approved Tanalith and sealed with an oil-based sealant after installation. Great care has been taken to make Buddies Playgyms as safe as possible. All platform wood is sanded or planed for a smooth finish to ensure no splinters. We do not use nails on the main structure, only on platforms and ramps.
It is normal for the poles and wood used on jungle gyms to crack with time due to weathering. It is recommended to treat the complete jungle gym with a non-toxic oil-based sealant on a yearly basis. Buddies Playgyms offers this service to all customers – whether the unit was installed by us or not. All bolts and nuts are checked and tightened as they can come loose with time through vibration, weathering and normal wear and tear. All nails are checked and replaced if needed.
